Maldives , the coral island.

Are you interested to discover the beauty of a coral island? Malidives is your place. This is a group of coral islands 350 kms away from India. And its 750 kms away from Sri Lanka. The famous writer Marcopolo, in his writing, mentions Maldives as the flower of Indies. Ibn Batuta described Maldives as one of the wonders of the world. Maldives attracts tourists with its Golden beaches kissed by the waves of Indian Ocean. Here, land is surrounded by coral reef and most of the islands have a shallow Lagoon. These true coral islands has white sand all over the beaches. Climate of Maldives is divided by two monsoon periods. Flora and fauna at Maldives has a difference. Contrary to the one with palm trees and other vegetations, in the islands, the sandy soil of Maldives allows a few plants such as bamboo, banana, mangroves, bread fruit etc.Natural fauna is limited to giant fruit bats, colourful lizard and rats. Domestic animals include cats, chickens and rabbits. However the underwater fauna leaves you with excitements. Its comprised of butterfly fish, angel fish, Parrot fish, rock cod, Unicon fish, trumpet fish, sharks, etc.Maldives sought the attention of early mariners as its was positioned at a strategic Sea rout - West to East. Chinese traveller Man Huan and famous Arab traveller Ibn Batuta, mentioned about Maldives in their writing. The visit of Shake Yusuf Shamsuddin paved the way for Muslim conversion here. Still it remain as a matter of controversy. These islands are famous for two products, the money cowrie and Maladive fish. According to archeological records Maldives had inhabitants since 1500 BC. The inhabitants were said to have migrated (Aryans) from India. Today Maldives is a country with 100% Sunny Muslim population. Fishing and tourism are major means of income.
