History
Singapore was a British colony till 1945 and 1950s witnessed the emergence of nationalism. The people’s action party was elected to power in 1959.Cambridge-educated Lee Kuan became Prime minister. 1963 witnessed the formation of a union with Malaya. Tis federation ran into trouble in 1965. After that Singapore became independent.-
