Day excursion – Tea Factory & Plantation Visit & Elephant Walk Experience at Millenium Elephant Foundation

Visit a tea plantation and a tea factory. Where the best tea in the world is produced. Watch the tea pluckers pick two leaves and a bud with deft hands. Then to the factory where the all-important conversion to “made” black tea happens. The machinery used is of very traditional British design, some as old as 100 years. The process is a very artisanal one, unchanged for a century. Observe the process of manufacturing tea, tea grading and taste a cup of pure Ceylon tea.Elephant Walking Experience at Millennium Elephant FoundationElephant Walk Experience is our first step to our main goal of transitioning to non elephant riding, with your help and those of other guests and tour companies making the switch we will be able to do this, it will take time but we are determined to achieve our goal.We feel this package enables our guests a much more interactive and close up experience, unlike the bareback riding our elephants get the opportunity to walk at a leisurely pace and forage, while you casually stroll behind the elephant enjoying watching their every move and admiring the sheer size of these beautiful animals.

• Personalized guide for your whole tour.
• Educational talk by an expert about our Foundation, elephants and a tour of our museum
• At least a 30 minutes walk with an elephant around our grounds watching and observing the elephant whilst learning about Sri Lankan elephants
• Bathing the same elephant in the river, without other tourists
• Optional shower whilst standing next to elephant
• Free entrance and tour of Maximus Elephant Dung Paper Factory
